Common questions
- Wait 48 hours after fitting before your first wash
- Wash in a downward motion only — no circular scrubbing near bonds
- Sulphate-free shampoo only
- Conditioner on mid-lengths to ends — keep away from bonds
- Rinse with lukewarm water, not hot
- Wash no more than 1–2 times per week
Do not wash with your head upside-down — this causes tangling at the bonds.
- Use a soft loop brush or extension-safe brush only
- Always hold the hair above where you are brushing to support the bond
- Begin at the ends and work gradually upward — never root to tip
- Brush at least twice daily, morning and evening
- Never brush wet extensions — allow to dry first
- Blow-dry bonds after every wash — never go to bed with wet extensions
- Direct airflow away from bonds when drying
- Use a heat protectant before any heat styling
- Keep straighteners and irons away from the bond itself
Sleeping with wet hair is one of the most common causes of matting at the bonds.
- Always secure in a loose plait, bun, or low ponytail before bed
- A silk or satin pillowcase reduces friction overnight
- Never sleep with extensions loose
- Avoid: sulphate shampoos, silicone masks near bonds, dry shampoo on bonds, heavy root oils, keratin treatments, chlorine, salt water
- Lightweight oils such as argan are safe on mid-lengths and ends only — keep entirely away from bonds
- Some shedding through the bonds is completely normal — extensions do not prevent your natural hair cycle
- Slight bond movement down the shaft after week 6 is expected as your hair grows
- Extensions may feel heavier than your own hair for the first week or two
If anything feels unusual, contact Perfect Tresses before attempting to adjust anything yourself.
